But compliance is judged on what a laboratory finds in the finished food, and a calculated panel can differ from an analysed one — cooking losses, natural variation in produce, and how much of a topping actually ends up on each unit all move the result. The gap matters most when a value sits close to a threshold you are relying on, or when you make a nutrient claim, because the FDA verifies claims by testing the food (21 CFR 101.9(g)).The Contains line is built from your ingredient names. It cannot know what else your kitchen handles — a shared mixer, flour in the air, one fryer for two products. Whether to add a “may contain” advisory is your call; it is voluntary, and it is never a substitute for declaring an allergen you actually use.This panel uses the Daily Values for adults and children 4 or more years old. A food sold specifically for infants or for children 1 to 3 needs a different set of Daily Values and its own footnote (21 CFR 101.9(c)(8)(iv) and (d)(9)(iii)), which this tool does not produce.A packaged food also needs three things this export does not include: the statement of identity — the common name of the food, in bold on the principal display panel (21 CFR 101.3); the net quantity of contents in both US customary and metric units (21 CFR 101.7); and your name and place of business with street address, city, State and ZIP (21 CFR 101.5).
